Little cone trees for self-crafting
Craft instructions from the 2024 Christmas catalog
Do it yourself
A clever craft idea for cold winter days! The little cone trees look particularly pretty on the windowsill or on a shelf. But they also cut a fine figure on the festive table.
Materials
Pine cones or fir cones
Small wooden blocks or thick pieces of branch as a base
Moss for the decoration
Hot glue
Drill
Thin wooden sticks or branches for the trunk
Method
Choose a thick piece of branch or a block of wood as the foundation for your cone tree. The branch should be strong enough to hold a wooden stick with the cone.
Drill a hole in the center of the top of your branch or log. The hole should be large enough to accommodate the thin wooden stick or branch you want to use as a stem, but narrow enough to ensure a tight fit.
Insert one end of the wooden stick into the drilled hole in the base. Use hot glue to attach the wooden stick (trunk) securely to the wooden base. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Drill the tenon slightly from below so that the wooden stick (trunk) can be glued into it better in the next step.
Apply hot glue to the lower, drilled end of the peg and place the peg on the wooden stick (trunk). Press the cone firmly onto the trunk until the glue has dried to ensure that the cone is firmly attached.
To give your cone tree a more natural look, you can glue some moss around the base. Use hot glue to attach the moss.
